The company RND HI-TECH, INC. and Computac Technologies, Inc., created a potential product that consisted of one receiver and one transmitter in the Spring of 2003. We called it the first generation of wireless brake light. We believed that an additional brake light should be made for the motorcycle. It is common knowledge that the automobile has a third brake light along with two primary ones on the left and right sides of the vehicle. Even though the motorcycle has only one brake light, the product is called a third brake light for practical purposes because it acts as a backup safety light, much like the third one of automobiles. The name of the wireless brake light was changed to the Wireless 3rd Brake Light for this reason.
The first generation had its problems. For example, it was difficult to replace the battery for the receiver and involved unnecessary work. In addition, the transmitters were limited to one type, the 1157. Modifications were made over time. In 2004, a transmitter, the 3157, was made especially for Harley's. Later that year, the black box transmitter was created to accommodate all brands of motorcycles, and a brake light for bicycles was also born. We implemented a material known as TPR, an environmentally-friendly material, into the second generation receiver. The receiver now allowed the user to change its batteries with less hassle, and TPR also made the receiver less rigid, making it more durable and easier to apply to the helmet or any surface.
The market response after the second generation was positive. The Wireless 3rd Brake Light, however, is not perceived as mandatory for motorcycle riders. As a result, sales for this product have not yet taken off. The goal behind the Wireless 3rd Brake Light is to safeguard motorcycle and bicycle riders. Almost half of all motorcycle accidents are due to rear ends. In comparison, almost one third of all automobile accidents are rear ends. Reducing traffic accidents is the most important objective of the Wireless 3rd Brake Light.
